Praise for y'all

Received the following message yesterday evening--Kathryn said I could share it with you--

"Hi Jeremiah,

I have just come back from a slew of AEC presentations to URI 101 peer mentors. I wanted to let you know that one of the most common pieces of feedback I heard was how their URI 101 students (or they themselves) found The Writing Center and the writing tutors so helpful. One mentor also said she got an A on the paper that she brought in.

Just wanted to pass along some positive feedback. Have a great night!

Kathryn"

How's that feel? It should feel pretty good.

Keep up the good work!

  1. This reminded me of the random ex-tutees I've been running into lately. A couple weeks ago as I was sipping on a beer waiting for my take out order at Mews, the bartender asked if I worked at the writing center. Turned out that I had worked with her over a couple weeks on a really big project last spring. She has since graduated, but thanked me for all my hardwork and help, commenting that she wished someone had "made" her go to the writing center sooner so that she could have utilized our services throughout her time at URI instead of just her last semester.
And then another ex-tuttee found me while I was pumping gas down on RT 108! I had worked with her on a number of projects last year and one time I even helped her prep for an exam, running through flash cards on a slow Friday morning. She mentioned that she hadn't had a chance to come in yet, but that she was excited that she would have some assignments to bring in soon.
So now I'm wondering, where else will ex-tutees find me? I half expect to have one pop up at one of my yoga classes in the coming weeks. And as weirded out as I've been about finding them at random moments in my "real" life, its been really awesome too!
